Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and engaging Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one community living support for an individual in the Alexander area. In this role, you will serve as a trusted mentor and caregiver, promoting independence, personal growth, and safety in both home and community settings.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Care & Companionship: Provide personalized 1:1 support, encouragement, and meaningful companionship tailored to the individual's needs and interests.
Daily Living Support: Assist with essential daily routines, including personal hygiene/care, nutritious meal preparation, and accurate medication administration.
Community Integration: Accompany and guide the individual during local activities, outings, and social opportunities to encourage active community participation.
Safety & Well-being: Maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment at home and while out in the community.
Documentation & Compliance: Keep accurate daily logs and adhere strictly to state guidelines and agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Driving Credentials: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Screening: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
Core Competencies: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and strong problem-solving abilities.
Experience: Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred, but we welcome candidate applications driven by a genuine passion for caregiving.
Schedule & Specific Availability
This position offers flexible scheduling with primary coverage needed during afterschool hours and weekends.
